It's been a while since my last post, so I thought I'd bring all my readers up to date with some things.
First, Happy Thanksgiving for all my U.S. readers. I'll be eating here at my place today by myself. I plan to have some peas, potatoes, pumpkin pie and some chicken that's already been cooked.
Tomorrow evening, I'll be going to my brother's for dinner. He and his wife will have it then because my nephew is going to his in-law's house today for his first Thanksgiving dinner with them, and my niece has to work this evening at a department store where she is temporary holiday help.
And as for relatives, both of my nephews got married this year: One in late March, the other in early August. They're both buying houses and one already has a child, while their uncle is single, childless and living in an apartment.
I turned 60 a couple of months ago. I think my reaction hasn't been all that great and that I've had some low-level depression over me since then. I feel tired a lot. It could be from age or a sympton of some undiagnosed (as of now) affliction/condition.
That's about all I can think of for now. Just wanted to make a mark and to make sure this blog is still active, if not as much as in the past.
One other thing: I believe we're going to have a heavy winter in central Indiana. The summer was cooler than usual, and we've already had enough snow fall -- once -- to leave traces on the ground.

Saturday Briefs
Here are some briefs that I decided to put into one post instead of several separate ones.
One
Last Tuesday, I noticed for the first time that the grass was beginning to turn a brighter green as a sign that spring was here.
But Friday, a typical spring bad weather loop was thrown. I was out early, and the sky was overcast from rains that had fallen since Thursday night. The temperatures were in the high 30s. The forecast high was 51 and the forecast low was 37. As for today, the high is forecast to be 53 and the low tonight is forecast to be 36.
Two
I was out at the grocery store and, as I was buying my provisions, I saw a couple books in the calling/greeting card section. One was a book of sports statistics. The other was a book of short inspirational sports stories.
They were published by Hallmark Cards and ESPN.
I thought they were books that a grandmother or aunt would give a grandson or nephew ages 5-15 for his birthday or Chrstimas if the laidies didn't know what he exactly wanted.
Those books were nice gifts, and women of that age (40 or older, at least semi-retired) of the upper-middle to upper class like their things to be nice and their colors to be pastel.
Three
Sitting on a small plate in my kitchen is a wishbone from a broasted chicken I had deboned and deskinned. I had come across it by accident and not on purpose.
I'd like to keep it but it's fragile -- it could snap very easily -- and I don't know where I could store it at my place.
Four
Come Jan. 20, 2017, the end of Barack Obama's second term as president, I predict these group of people will be so happy that they'll pop the champaign and toast:
A. The racists who never wanted to see a black man as president or even in the Oval Office unless he was a janitor;
B. The active agents of the U.S. Secret Service, because the job of guarding the president will become much less stressful and dangerous.

blasted earth, blasted hopes...blast it all...
neither the thousand of battered books...with the poetry and philosophy embedded in their pages...
nor the broken statues...the torn and defaced paintings...none of them helped.
the hard cracked ground already had surrendered all its comforts to the overpowering forces. it had been used up and burned out: weak and half dead.
it was an old bitch gone in the teeth...a botched civilization...abomination...call it
SYPHILLIZATION.
as the land died, so did the people. too many gone...most into the void...the rest to the edges of it.
i knew it was all over and done except for the shouting...and the shooting...
as the first war slid into the second war as the cock and cum of a senile old man with terminal STDs drips between the legs and from the hole of an old whore, seriously poxied herself.
this is bad and will be bad for a long time.

UPDATE, APRIL 13: This is a rewrite/edit by yours truly of part of the poem Hugh Selwyn Mauberly by Ezra Pound and something I saw on the net and downloaded for future use.
I won't claim originality in writing it, because that would be a lie, but I will claim that for rewriting it.

What You Do With Your Stuff
When you talk about tendencies, to say there are two types of people is somewhat of a cliche and a stereotype. But it often comes close and should be used judiciously, like salt.
Recently, I thought of this example of two type of people:
The type of person who comes home in the evening or at night, dumps his stuff and then goes to bed. He picks up that stuff in the morning.
Then there's the type of person who comes home in the evening or at night, but puts his stuff up and then goes to bed after it's put in its place.

Goddamm This Fucking Weather...
The weather during the last three-four weeks has been terrible. It either has been overcast, damp and wet from rain or snow, and very windy. Many days, at least two of three. And on the rare day, all three.
That seemed to be the dominant weather pattern since winter started. I finally got so fucking sick and fucking tired of it that I'll mention it here. Maybe that will purge my disgust with the weather and cause me not to be so gloomy.
While today is sunny, at least, the temperature as I write this is in the high 20s -- just above freezing. And while it's the second day of spring, snow has been forecast -- just forecast, mind you -- for this coming Sunday and Monday.
But during much of next week, highs are forecast to be from the high 30s to low 50s, lows in the high 20s to low 30s, and only a 10 percent chance of precipitation, mostly rain.
ADDENUM, MARCH 22: To add to the misery, I found a chart in the local newspaper comparing temperatures of a year ago. Highs from March 19-22, 2012, were in the 80s; highs for the same days this year are in the 30s.

American Equivalents To Nazi Phenomena
The sheriff's deputies in the Deep South states in the 1960s, fighting against the civil rights movement = SA stormtroopers.
Fraternity "bros" beating on a black man or gay man = SS members.
It's a matter of class.
Please keep this is mind as I work on a post on the worthlessness of s0cial/economic classes in the United States.

Small Favors And Slight Blahs
Thank God, or the Fates, or Whoever, for small favors, for they can offset slight cases of the blahs.
I'm having a case of the midwinter blahs that started last week and probably will continue through the rest of this week, if the weather goes as forecast. The highs have been in the low 40s and the lows have been in the high 20s. Rain or snow has fallen nearly every day; freezing rain dropped for a couple of days.
As of tonight, the forecast for tomorrow is snow showers with 1-2 inches of snow to accumulate.
In short, the weather's been lousy and it's affected my outlook.
But the small favor offsets part of it.
Last week I received my January electric bill from my city's utilities department. The bill is usually between $25-$30 a month, and last month the amount was $26. But a $100 credit paid for it.
I wondered where the $100 had come from,so I called the uitilities department. A clerk there said the money was from the deposit I had made when I opened my account when I moved here. If I had paid my electric bills on time for a year, the deposit would be applied to my bills.
So my electric bills should be covered for the first four months of 2013. I can use the money to pay down my credit card debt.

Gas Prices Lately
I give you a few notes about gas prices this month and in nearby areas. It's the second post I've made since I announced I wouldn't be posting regularly, and it's more or less for the record.
During the morning of January 17, I was out around 9:30 a.m. I saw gas prices at two stations -- one at a Speedway convenience store a mile north of downtown, the other at a Speedway store just south of I-70 -- were $3.089 a gallon.
Same company, same price. Don't know if coincidental.
Then around 11 a.m. January 19, along a strip of State Road 67 between Pendleton and Lawrence/northeast Indianapolis, prices ranged from $3.329 to $3.359 a gallon.
